Magenta Aura Meaning, Explained and Illustrated

What is the magenta aura meaning? In other words, what does it signify if a person has a purplish-red-pink cloud of light around them, emanating during meditation, energy work, Reiki, acupuncture, or other bodywork or aura reading method? You’re in luck, because I love discussing aura colors!

As background, my name is Lillie, and I’m a Reiki Master who has been practicing since 2018. Everything I write in this article is based on hands-on, first-hand experience working with real clients.

My specialty is seeing colors during meditation and energy work that reflect the personal and current aura of the person I’m touching. Knowledge of the 7 Chakra System of energy centers in the body helps me interpret each aura.

What is the magenta aura meaning?

The Purple and Red Chakra

In order to understand what a magenta aura means, we first need to back up to review all the chakra colors and meanings — and you’ll soon see why. As shown in my illustration above, the colors associated with each energy center in the body are in rainbow order, starting with red at the base of the spine, and culminating with purple at the crown of the head.

(For the sake of simplicity, we’re leaving out the Earth Star Chakra here, as it is “Chakra Zero,” and more peripheral. That one is connected with a black aura.)

Now, a quick color mixing lesson. What does red and purple make? Why… the two hues swirled together make the tertiary color, magenta! Hence, we can interpret a magenta aura as meaning a combination of the lowest and highest chakras: red plus purple. But… what does that signify?

After many years of hands-on work with clients, I now interpret a magenta aura as the activation of the whole chakra chain — from the 1st Chakra with its red aura, to the 7th Chakra with its purple aura — and thus an energizing of energy flow in the body. Let me give an example.

Activating Energy Flow

Last week, a Reiki client came in because she was having trouble connecting with her family. As I began the initial energy work, I couldn’t see a single color emanating from the woman. Usually this indicates to me that energy flow is blocked, and chakra balancing is needed.

I continued the hand placements, sketching Reiki symbols with my eyes to open the pathways. Suddenly a magenta pink cloud of light began to emanate from the woman. “I just felt an energy release!” she sighed. “I feel so much clearer!”

Indeed, in this moment, seeing purplish-reddish light indicated what I’ve seen over and over: a magenta aura indicates that the entire chakra pathway is “lighting up” and activating energy flow — from the base of the spine to the top of the head. This is a very hopeful sign for the person being able to have clear and powerful thoughts and actions! In some ways, I liken it to the vibrations I feel with an orange aura, meaning there is a large amount of passion and potential.

The Difference Between a Magenta and Pink Aura

As we saw in my art article “What colors make purple?” the color magenta is just one type of pinkish-purple — there are many others, too. Thus, I would like to note a distinction between a magenta aura and a pink aura, because in my experience, they have different meanings.

Pink Aura Meaning

The key difference is that magenta is red plus purple (thus showing an activation of the 1st and 7th Chakra), while we learned in “What colors make pink?” that pink is usually created by simply making red (the 1st Chakra) lighter. Given this, I would interpret a pink aura as being in the beginning stages of developing characteristics of the red chakra, which is associated with feelings of safety, and a firm, grounded foundation. Stay tuned for an article specifically on the meaning of seeing pink!

Magenta Aura Meaning, in Sum

To summarize, the Magenta aura meaning, from my interpretation from years of experience in Reiki energy work, is that energy is starting to flow well from the Root Chakra at the base of the spine, to the Crown Chakra at the top of the head. This brings with it great potential in clarity of thoughts and effective actions that unify the purple of Universal Energy with the red of being grounded in earth energy. Yay for magenta!

So what about you? What have been your experiences with, and interpretations of, magenta auras? Do you see connections with other chakras, such as the yellow aura meaning from the Solar Plexus Chakra, or the green aura from the Heart Chakra? Do share!

I am enjoying learning about your experiences with chakras and auras. It’s fascinating to me there’s more colours like Magenta! It makes total sense though because the colour spectrum is so infinite? I also wanted to toss in that Viva Magenta is this years colour as per the colour pickers (Pantone?) what a coincidence.

I believe I was aware of auras and likely chakras when I was 11 years old. I’m retired now and excited to study more about these. I studied Reiki a few years ago to the Master level. So far I’ve had tangible experiences and yet I’m unsure about a path forward. It’s coming though.

Your website is really cute and easy to understand too. I can’t wait to explore more with you!
